Considering HUMIRA for Uveitis?
In a study of adults with non-infectious Uveitis, HUMIRA increased the time non-infectious Uveitis* was controlled. HUMIRA patients experienced 50% decreased risk of a combination of flare and loss of visual clarity.
Differences in disease control were seen as early as 6 weeks for patients taking HUMIRA.
HUMIRA for Uveitis in New Zealand
HUMIRA is used to treat adults with non infectious intermediate, posterior and pan-Uveitis, with inflammation affecting the back of the eye and children from 2 years of age with chronic non-infectious anterior Uveitis with inflammation affecting the eye.
The government medicine funding agency, PHARMAC, fully subsidises HUMIRA for chronic or severe ocular inflammation that has not fully responded to other medicines prescribed by a specialist, and meets other criteria required by PHARMAC. Your specialist will discuss whether HUMIRA is right for you, and whether you may qualify for PHARMAC funded treatment. Usual doctor’s consultation fees, and pharmacy prescription charges remain payable by you.
When should I expect to see and feel an improvement?
HUMIRA can act quickly. Differences in disease control were seen as early as six weeks for some patients taking HUMIRA. Some patients may not respond within these timeframes. You’ll need to be patient and stay on track with your dosing schedule.
Will HUMIRA cure my disease?
Unfortunately, currently there are no treatments available that can cure Uveitis. HUMIRA will not cure your condition but can help manage your symptoms.
